Charles III visited Golders Green in north London to meet victims of last month’s stabbing attack and show solidarity with the Jewish community amid growing concerns over antisemitism in the UK.
During the visit, the King met Shloime Rand, 34, and 76-year-old Moshe Shine at a Jewish Care community centre. Both men were injured during the attack that took place on 29 April.
The monarch also spoke with local residents, community leaders and emergency volunteers who responded after the incident. Chief Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis said the visit meant a great deal to the Jewish community during a difficult period.
Moshe Shine, who suffered injuries in the attack, described the King as warm and compassionate during their meeting. Crowds gathered outside the centre to welcome the royal visit, with many residents stopping to greet the monarch as he walked through the area.
The King later met volunteers from Jewish emergency organisations including Hatzola and Shomrim, both of which helped respond to the stabbings and supported victims after the attack.
Community representatives said the visit sent a strong message of support at a time when concerns about antisemitism have been rising across the country. In recent weeks, several Jewish community buildings and synagogues have also been targeted in suspected arson incidents currently under police investigation.
Meanwhile, 45-year-old Essa Suleiman has appeared in court charged with two counts of attempted murder linked to the Golders Green stabbings. He also faces a separate attempted murder charge connected to another alleged knife attack in Southwark, south London.
